Who we’re looking for…

Role: [Part-time Contractor] Content Writer

Reports To: Director of Marketing
Ideal Start Date: Monday, March 22, 2021 [10 – 15 hours per week]

A little about us…

We are Knit (previously known as PurPics) and we are on a mission to help consumers change the world by sharing their opinions. We’ve started our journey by building a platform that texts college students opportunities to raise money and do good by sharing their thoughts over video with brands. For our college student users, we provide them with meaningful ways to raise money for causes they care about. For our brand customers, we empower them to make customer-centric decisions through agile video feedback.

Where we came from…

In typical startup fashion, we launched out of a dorm room. Over the next four years, some big milestones happened… 

  • A bunch of hard-working, thoughtful people felt passionately about our mission and joined the team. Today, we have 11 full-time and part-time team members helping consumers raise money and do good, one opinion at a time.
  • We completed the Techstars Farm to Fork Accelerator in Fall 2019.
  • Most importantly, by connecting over 50 brands with a network of 60k college students, we’ve raised $125k+ for causes like Children’s Miracle Network, Camp Kesem, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, American Cancer Society and dozens more.

The majority of the team is based in Austin, Texas. However in light of COVID, we have an indefinite Work From Anywhere policy, so team members can be anywhere in the U.S.

Overview & Responsibilities

The Content Writer role is critical to Knit as he/she/they contribute to customer development and lead generation of Knit’s B2B customer base. You’ll be responsible for producing smart, witty takes on Gen Z related news/insights and identifying and writing longer pieces that will create buzz.

Content Writer responsibilities include conducting thorough research on industry-related topics, generating ideas for new content types and proofreading articles before publication. Ultimately, you’ll deliver quality writing pieces that appeal to our audiences, attract customers and boost brand awareness.

Key performance indicators for this role:

  • Generating high quality, well-researched B2B content at the determined frequency provided in Knit’s B2B Content Marketing Strategy
  • Attracting and acquiring new MQL’s through content generated
  • Increasing sales conversion rates through content aiding in sales enablement and prospect nurturing

    Primary responsibilities of this role:

    • Design content marketing strategies and set short-term goals, alongside Knit’s Director of Marketing
    • Lead content research efforts, including third-party industry research and first-party research conducted through the Knit platform
    • Pitch and write original short & long form content for multiple mediums, including blogs, ebooks/reports, webinars, newsletters & social media
    • Optimize content considering SEO and Google Analytics insights
    • Collaborate with design teams to produce high quality content
    • Edit, proofread and improve content
    • Identify customers’ needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics
    • Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone)Prospecting strategic accounts through outbound emails
    • Researching and evaluating additional leads and prospects through web research

    At the end of the day, we’re a fast-growing startup with a super lean team, so we’re looking for somebody that doesn’t shy away from new projects and challenging experiences! 

    Key Skills & Experiences

    A successful candidate for this role has exceptional writing and researching skills. These skills are critical for success as the Content Writer leads the creation of high quality, industry-specific content to be digested by leaders in their respective fields (C-level employees with Marketing and Insights background). They are tasked with co-owning the strategy and leading all content production, and are expected to be a proactive and communicative team member to maintain operational excellence in a fast paced environment.

    • 3+ years of professional experience in a content writing or editorial role
    • Portfolio of published articles
    • Experience doing research using multiple sources
    • Editorial mindset with an ability to predict audience preferences
    • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
    • Hands on experience with SEO optimization
    • Proficiency with Google Analytics
    • Project management skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to write in a compelling, original voice
    • Passion for impacting the world through creative storytelling
    • Ability to submit outstanding work on ambitious deadlines
    • An eye for humor and wit
    • Soft spot for startups & Gen Z
